Started during lockdown, the cover project for When Waves Collide, a parisian apotheotic post-rock band, began with a shy encounter. After several friendly exchanges, and listening to their EP still in progress, which was inspired by the ideas of chasm (literally), void, fall but also big empty spaces and abysses, we started together to think about what could be the four-sided cover of this opus.

It immediately appeared that they whished it to become a pretty object in itself, that one could proudly possess or expose on a shelf. The choice of colours, night blue and slight gold, as well as the 3D textures work done by Andrea Gallo, drummer of the band, give it the singular aspect of a precious object, almost antique. The illustrations were made with several architectural or mountain landscapes old gravures, which through the process, were refined to achieve this abyssal and cyclopean aspect that today ornate the vinyl cover.

A huge thank you to Adrien, Romain, Andrea and Timothée for their trust and the things we shared, as well as their sympathy. One of 2021 best EP.
